Feedback is helpful. I got some today from Peter Bayer who asked what the point of the story was... I think in hindsight it was to show both the negative and positive aspects of this entrenched profession in South Africa. Positive hopefully from the point of view that a lady from an older generation -who has no formal education has a chance to earn a living, and negative from the point of view that migrant labour in sense persists in our country as is visible through Maria's fractured and dislocated life. I am hoping at least the the sense of journeying from one place to another has shown this??
An incurable idealist – a constant gypsy -passionate about Africa and sharing the stories of positive change driven by Africans. Available for independent writing, consultancy and project management assignments anywhere in Africa where our values are shared.
